Mountain Moot 2023 Registration

Signum University and the Mythgard Institute invite you to join us on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, for Mountain Moot 2023: The Fellowship of Fandom. This hybrid event will take place at the Bob Ragland branch of the Denver Public Library in Denver, CO, as we consider this year's theme, “The Fellowship of Fandom”. No matter how one engages with their favorite works of fiction, whether that is creatively, scholarly, or critically, it is the coming together of fans that create the phenomenon we know as fandom. Fandom can both unite and divide, create both community and chaos, and both inspire and deter further creative works within a given property. How do you engage with your favorite stories, be they in literature, film and television, video games or any other medium, beyond mere consumption? Is it fan fiction or fan art? Are you inspired to create your own original works? Do they motivate you in your everyday life to pursue your dreams or to think about the world in a new way? What about the dark side of fandom? Have you ever been affected by gatekeeping, discrimination, and other forms of exclusionary behavior? What about toxic attitudes toward new works within your favorite properties? How can we do better deal with this shadow element of our communities? We hope you’ll join us for a lively discussion of all these issues at Mountain Moot 2023!
