“At Ransom's waking something happened to him which perhaps never happens to a man until he is out of his own world: he saw reality, and thought it was a dream.”

C.S. Lewis’s Perelandra, published in 1943, asks the question: what if an alien Adam and Eve existed on another planet, and you had the chance to intervene and stop the downfall of this new Eden from happening?

Dr Elwin Ransom arrives on Perelandra (Venus) on an important mission. He finds a land of floating islands drifting across a sea and a woman who is both wise and innocent. He must save this woman from the influence of an evil force.
We will read through this novel, unpacking and analyzing its world-building, philosophy, and oneric descriptions.

Perelandra is the second part of Lewis’s Space Trilogy, but it can be read independently or in sequence with the other novels in the series.
