in the
2023 Spring Showcase.
The History of Middle-earth gives tremendous insight into Tolkien's creative process with early drafts and alternative versions of his legendarium. This capsule surveys the first five volumes (with a focus on 4 and 5) which cover the period prior to the writing of Lord of the Rings. This will give students an overview of what Tolkien had worked on in the lead up to Lord of the Rings and will be the perfect backgrounder for people considering attending Journey through the History of Middle-earth in June!
