A capsule for
Viking Hogwarts:
A Guide to Old Norse Magic
in the 2024 Spring Showcase.
Among the very few active roles women could perform in the Viking age, we encounter powerful seeresses and sorceresses. But what about men? Were they totally out of place in such performances? Actually, despite the deep connotation of dishonour and effeminacy, some men (Odin himself!) did choose to practice magic, showing that in the realm of sorcery at least, sexual and gender boundaries could be blurred for the sake of a higher purpose. Let's explain why, and together catch a glimpse of the fascinating realm of the Norse mind.
